The Lie of the “All in One Platform”

All in-one platforms won’t make your business easier.

When I first started my business, I was very, very tempted by all in one platforms.

Y’know the ones…

The ones that promise you a “one-stop-shop” for all your business needs.

It can do EEEVVVERRRYYYYTHIIINNNNGGGG!

but it can’t.

All in one platforms, are like hacks/tips and tricks…

y’know like the 80/20 principle.

Great in principle (hence the name), but impossible when you face reality.

Hacks have a shelf life just like all in-one platforms.

When working with clients, they are often ON all in one platforms. They share their amazing dreams, and what they wanna achieve.

Then I see three faces…

  • Realisation
  • Disappointment
  • Resignation

They realise that what they need to do with this new launch, can’t be done with the AIO platform they’re using.

They became disappointed… because the entire plan lit them up. They felt excited. They finally felt just that little bit more confident in their business…

Then resignation… Oh, I guess I can’t offer this then… I’ll have to settle for something clunkier in the interest of simplicity.

Bollocks to Simplicity… because it’s not simple.

Simplicity isn’t less…

It’s enough!

Although all-in-one platforms promise “simplicity and ease,” it’s not.

They’ve not used the right word for what they’re looking to say:

“minimalism”

It’s about less platforms.

Simplicity isn’t about less, it’s about enough!

All in-one platforms, like hacks, have a half-life… the moment you try to go outside the very carefully designed box, you’re stuck…

You’ll outgrow the platform faster than you realize, or you’ll settle.

But.. I get it’s overwhelming to pick platforms that fit.
